In the dark hours of the morning, fire stole The Pescadero Country Store from us. Today we mourn the loss of this warm hearth where we gather to talk, to eat, to drink – to live. And, today, we thank God that no lives were lost.

The owner of the Pescadero Country Store revitalized this town by turning a small failing grocery store into a thriving store, restaurant, bar, open air music venue and local farmer’s market, as well as providing space for small vendors to set up shop. From a street where one could have easily visualized a  tumbleweed rolling lazily along, a booming tourist trade arose where the biggest issue on any given day is how to find a place to park anywhere near where you want to be.

May the rebuilding be swift, carefree and run by the same tireless, loving, generous soul who has now lost so much.
